Szwedzki Pagan Rites powstał w 1992 roku i jako jedna z niewielu załóg gra do dzisiaj. Ich styl to black metal z thrashowym zacięciem, mocno inspirowany Celtic Frost.
Wypuścili sporo demosów, ja sam posiadam chyba ze cztery, ale te najważniejsze to Through the Gates of Hell, od którego, mimo że to drugie demo, zaczęło się robić trochę ruchu wokół zespołu. Mimo wielu taśm, koncertów, Pagan Rites nagrał debiutancki album dopiero w 2003 roku, kiedy o thrashu mało kto pamiętał, a black metal odchodził do skansenu. Wytrwałości nie można im odmówić, bo udało im się nagrać jeszcze dwie płyty, a każda bo kilku latach odstępu.
Nagrań po debiucie już nie słyszałem, ale tak wyrywkowo to ciągle trzymają się swojego stylu i dlatego chwała im, że nie zeszli na jakieś głupkowate granie.
