Kanadyjski Völur działa od 2013. Grają doom metal ze szczyptą muzyki kameralnej. Niespodzianką dla słuchaczy może być całkowity brak gitary elektrycznej. Zamiast tego stawiają na bas, kontrabas, skrzypce i oczywiście perkusję. Dotychczas wydali dwa albumy na temat folkloru oraz historii Germanii.
While nominally based on the 12th century Icelandic Grettir''s Saga, the album pulls from a variety of influences: Kurdish music, free improvisation, death metal, Gustav Mahler, just to name a few.
